Description
An account of the resource
DLA, a department in the University Libraries at Virginia Tech, evolved from the Scholarly Communications Project (SCP) that began in 1989. Our focus is working with the university community to host its unique digital resources, beginning with faculty-edited electronic journals in 1991. We began in 1995 to envision ETDs authored by VT graduate students. In 1996 SCP and the Special Collections Department merged to enhance access to rare books, manuscript collections, and the University Archives. We renamed the department the Digital Library and Archives in 2000.

Description
An account of the resource
The New Zealand Digital Library project is a research programme at The University of Waikato whose aim is to develop the underlying technology for digital libraries and make it available publicly so that others can use it to create their own collections.
Our web site provides several document collections, including historical documents, humanitarian and development information, computer science technical reports and bibliographies, literary works, and magazines. All are available over the Web, and can be accessed through searching and browsing interfaces provided by the Greenstone digital library software. Behind the query interface lies a huge collection providing gigabytes of information. We hope you find what you want, or at least something intriguing!

Description
An account of the resource
The Digital Library of the Commons (DLC) is a gateway to the international literature on the commons. The DLC provides free and open access to full-text articles, papers, and dissertations. This site contains an author-submission portal; an Image Database; the Comprehensive Bibliography of the Commons; a Keyword Thesaurus, and links to relevant reference sources on the study of the commons.
The commons is a general term for shared resources in which each stakeholder has an equal interest. Studies on the commons include the information commons with issues about public knowledge, the public domain, open science, and the free exchange of ideas -- all issues at the core of a direct democracy.
