The goal of the Simplified Image Management and Processing Learning Environment for Science (SIMPLE Science) project is to help overcome barriers to use of image processing and analysis (IPA) in K-12 classrooms by:
• making IPA accessible to mainstream educators and the public as an easy-to-use learning tool,
• providing educator access to extensive and updateable archives of imaging data, and
• designing a pedagogical structure that helps educators use imaging data in a manner that
• supports attainment of specific national education standards for middle school education.

For more than two years, members of The International Association of Medical Science Educators (IAMSE) and the co-directors of the Health Education Assets Library (HEAL) have been working together to further the development of HEAL. HEAL is a digital repository that allows medical educators to discover, download, and re-use over 22,000 medical education resources. Through generous funding by IAMSE, HEAL is becoming a dynamic, user-centered digital environment to allow medical educators to share and discuss teaching resources and methods. This is being accomplished through the incorporation of key characteristics of Web 2.0 technologies into HEAL including user reviews of resources and user tagging (searchable keywords) of resources.
HEAL is a component of the National Sciences Digital Library. Hosting Institutions: University of Utah Spencer S. Eccles Health Sciences Library and David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA.
